World of Warcraft…Where Has The Time Gone?

It’s been a long time since I have posted here. There are many reasons for this as I’m sure a lot of MMO players can see themselves doing as well.
I took a break right after about 2 months after WotLK hit the shelves. I’m pretty sure the reason for this was the sheer number of hours I was playing and to let you know how many hours I was playing….by December ‘08 I was totally geared out and getting tired of 25 Man Naxx. That’s not record breaking or anything but it goes to show that I did play a whole lot. After that I tried to come back and did for a while but without raiding and never really getting myself back into the game.
That brings us to the recent times. I still enjoy playing but it just seems to take so much time away from other stuff that I find myself playing in spurts of 2 or 3 months at a time and then followed by a break. I also actually tried out other MMOs like Aion (GASP!!!!) but can’t really get into those as well either.
This has brought me to take a long look at what has happened over my WoW playing career and I am finally able to realize why I can not seem to get into it as much as I used to. To put it simply, I’ve grown up over the past 5 years.
I know, pretty complex thinking! With this is mind I am going to have to change my play style a whole lot and force myself to hit the casual player mark instead of playing 35 hours a week. As of right now I’m taking a break from the game but rest assured I will be back once WoW:Cataclysm hits the shelves but will more than likely stay a casual player.
5 years playing any game is a long time and have you found yourself either getting burned out or just not being able to justify the time spent anymore? Or have you graduated from college and on to bigger and better things instead of playing WoW, taking tests, and listening to lectures?
